Abstract:
Tsai's modulus is an emerging concept in composite materials mechanics, which can be used to simplify the design, analysis and optimization of composite laminates. Tsai’s modulus has been verified theoretically, and its applicability in engineering prospects has been demonstrated. However, this new concept has yet been widely introduced to composite materials teaching. This work investigates on the concepts, teaching methods and engineering prospects of Tsai's modulus, to promote deeper understanding and application ability among researchers and students on Tsai’s modulus-based analysis. Our teaching practice demonstrates that the proposed method can enhance students’ computation and analysis ability on laminate composites, meanwhile deepen their understanding on traditional methods like laminated plate theory. This is helpful to the cultivation of engineering innovative capacity and top innovative talents in new engineering.
